Babywearing Safety

At Blossoming Buds, your baby's safety will always come first.

All consultations are based on current UK babywearing safety guidance and best practice. Whilst babywearing can be a wonderful way to support bonding, responsiveness and everyday family life, it is important that slings and carriers are used correctly to ensure your baby remains safe and comfortable.

We recommend that all parents and caregivers familiarise themselves with the UK Sling Consortium's T.I.C.K.S. Rule for Safe Babywearing, which is widely recognised as the industry standard for safe babywearing. The T.I.C.K.S. guidelines help ensure your baby's airway remains clear and that they are positioned safely in any sling, wrap or carrier.

T.I.C.K.S stands for:

T – Tight
I – In View At All Times
C – Close Enough To Kiss
K – Keep Chin Off The Chest
S – Supported Back

As part of your consultation, we will discuss safe positioning, carrier fit, comfort and age-appropriate carrying options to help you feel confident using your sling or carrier independently.

You can download the full UK Sling Consortium T.I.C.K.S. safety guide here:

If you ever have concerns about your baby's positioning, breathing or comfort whilst babywearing, stop and seek advice before continuing. Safety should always come before convenience.

Babywearing can help support bonding, responsiveness and everyday life with your little one while keeping your hands free for the realities of parenthood. Many families find babywearing helpful for:

• Settling newborns

• Managing reflux symptoms

• Supporting attachment and connection

• School runs with older siblings

• Travelling and days out

• Breastfeeding on the go

• Contact-loving babies who prefer to be close

Every family is different, which is why our consultations are tailored to your individual needs.
